Frame Ordering

How to order your tray frame – step by step

Please note, the smallest length available is 10cm and the largest length is 100cm.  Should you have a sizing outside of this range, then please contact me here to discuss the options available.

Step One: Choose your frame.

Once you have found the style and finish of framing product you like, it is important to check the frame 'depth' to ensure you canvas will fit.  Each products has images with measurements on (like the one below) to help you ensure that the frame will fit. These measurements are in mm (millimetres).

                                                                                                                           depth 21mm

This image is a cross-section of the wood framing material ('moulding').  The 'depth' of this example above is 21mm (2.1cm). This is important as it will dictate how the artwork sits into the frame.  For example a canvas that is 2.5cm deep will sit above the edge of the frame and not look very good.  However a narrower canvas at 2cm or even 1.5cm would look better.

* If your canvas it very narrow but you want it to sit higher in the frame, you can put an mdf or plywood strips to exaggerate the depth and make it level with the frame edge.

Step Two: Measuring your artwork.

You will need to measure your artwork using a ruler/ tape measure in centimetres.

Two measurements are required; the height and the length of the picture.  If your artwork is square, then still use the drop

                                                                 example artwork

                   height

                                                                    length

Step three: Select your frame & choose your size range and 'Group'.

For ease of ordering there are five 'groups' of sizes.  Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large & Extra Large.

You will need to find your size group for both the height & length measurements using the size image on the product page -or here below.  Once you have the corresponding group for both measurements choose from both the height and length drop downs, which size group your picture falls into.

Don’t worry, you will provide the ‘Exact’ measurements too – as a double check, see step four.

*If your sizes are larger or smaller than available, please contact me via email so we can assist you.

Note:  Do you want a ‘gap’ - sometimes called the 'Shadow Gap' between the artwork and the frame?

As standard frames are cut to accomodate a 0.5cm gap between the artwork and floating frame edge.  If you have a requirement for a 'snug' fit or 1cm gap then please add this as a comment to your order.  This is not applicable to standard frames, only the tray profile frames.

*If you would like a larger gap, then please email hello@thecherishedwall.co.uk before ordering so we can be sure of your requirement.

Step four: Entering the exact measurements.

In the two text boxes labelled Exact height and Exact length please provide your exact measurements in cm (centimetres)  as accurately as possibly to 1 decimal place. E.g. 10.4 or 26.8

Items to hang and secure your picture into the frame are supplied as standard with all frames.  This includes D-rings, Picture Cord, corner bumpers, wedges & canvas offsets with screws.

Full instructions on how to use these will also be included.
